What type of bike should I hire?
Hybrid/City Bike – Idealy used for short to mid-range distances (up to 45 miles/70 kms daily), on a mixture of gradients. Can be ridden on tarmac roads and cycle paths, or light off-road trails. Hybrid/City bikes typically feature an Alloy frame with steel fork, 24 or 27 speed Shimano gearing, and v-brakes or hydraulic disc brakes. Bikes come fitted with mudguards, luggage racks and a bottle cage. Typical hybrid bike brands models available – Marin larkspur, Ridgeback Meteor and Ridgeback Vanteo,
Trekking Bike – Due to the addition of a lockable front suspension fork, trekking bikes are a more comfortable bike to use for longer distance adventures (up to 75 miles/120kms daily), on a mixture of gradients. More aggressive tyre tread gives good grip on off-road trails, and hydraulic brakes give reliable stopping power in wet conditions and steeper descents. Quality Shimano components provide a accurate 24 to 27 speed shifting. Bikes come fitted with mudguards, luggage racks and a bottle cage. Typical trekking bike brands and models available: Trek Dual sport 3, Cube Nature Pro, Marin San Raphael DS2/DS3
Pedal Assisted Electric Bike (E-Bike) – Helping the rider cycle faster and for longer distances. Our quality E-bikes feature a mid drive (Bosch) or rear-wheel drive (Volt) motor which assists the bike as the rider pedals, for a distance of up to 60 miles/100 kms. E-bikes have become very popular in recent years with novice and experienced cyclists looking for fun and less strenuous ride… It really is just like riding a bike! Bikes come fitted with mudguards and luggage racks. Typical E-bike brands and models available: Cube Nature Trapeze, Lapierre Trekking 400, Volt Pulse
Our electric pedal assist bicycles feature the latest e-bike motor technology and have an average range of 50 miles (80 kilometres). This is dependent on temperature, weight of rider, wind and use of the bikes pedal assist function. However, the bike will still operate as a manual bicycle without battery power. For multiple day hire we will provide a battery charger, which requires a 230v power supply with approximately 4 hours full charge time. Our e-bikes must be stored overnight in a dry secure place with the battery removed. Please note: minimum age restriction of 14 years of age for e-bikes.
