Sky to Sea Tour

When to go:
Tours run throughout year. Please see tour itinerary and calendar at bottom of page for tour times and availability

Time:
Allow 4.0 to 5.0 hours including transport to start of route. Tour finishes around 1:45/2:00pm in New Town on Little King Street at entrance to St. James Shopping Centre.

Terrain:
Mainly tarmac with short sections of cobbled road, with a 0.7 mile (1 km), uphill climb on road around Arthurs Seat. E-bike option is available for assistance uphill, which can be walked if necessary. Otherwise, mainly level riding along shared cycle paths and quieter roads. 75% traffic free

Distance:
Approximately 16 miles (25 kilometres)

Suitability:
For leisure cyclists with a moderate level of fitness. E-bikes are available for a less strenuous and more relaxed experience, or if some additional assistance is required on the climbs. We have a minimum age policy of 12 years old for manual bikes and 16 years old for E-bikes. Families with children under the age of 12 can participate in this tour using the private tour option only. Riders must be a minimum height of 148cm /4’10” to participate.

Maximum Group size = 10 persons. Alternative transport arrangements are occasionally used in conjunction our own vehicle for groups larger than 7 persons

Weather:
Except in adverse weather conditions e.g. High winds + 40 mph (65km), Ice, snow, prolonged heavy rain, or any extreme weather warning issued by the MET office, our bike tours run rain or shine.  Please dress appropriately for the activity and weather conditions. Comfortable, warm (not baggy) clothing and suitable footwear with flat soles recommended. A limited supply of rain jackets and gloves are often available from your guide.

What to Bring:

• Jacket, gloves, and extra layers of clothing during colder weather
• Medication if required – Please inform guide of any medical conditions
• Snacks
• Sunscreen
• Phone / Camera for pictures
• Cash or card for food or drink during or after tour.
